hi guys
I am new at using ansys and the problem i have in hand is to find the cooling time for a array of cylinderical wires from 80degree celius to 50 degree celius
the conditions are
laminar cross flow over the cylinder
forced convection
I somehow managed to get the empirical fomulation of convective heat coefficient for a single wire using empirical corelations
but what should i do find the h for a in line configuration of cylinderical wires
I read that it can be done using CFX ansys but i am unable to do it
I know that the h will vary as the air flows over the cylinders in one row
Please help
an early response will be appreciated
Please if anyone has any idea kindly do share
I am in deep trouble and not getting any help

Hey,
You can use CFX and transient analysis with initialization tmeperature on solid domain. You dont need to use heat transfer coefficient, program will obtain automatically

On the tree you click on analysis type and choose transient, when you make this
you must obtain your simulation time . in the first phase you can choose 10 s ( when your model is not complicated - no a lot of finite elements). The next step is to define bc and interface model.
You must chase surfaces contact on the interface model and make heat transport on there. On the temperature transfer coefficent make none. CFX obtai this automatically. On post You can measure this temperature transport coefficent. Sorry for my english
Best regards
