Euler Granular Model

In using the Euler Granular Model in Fluent do we need to switch on the turbulence model if the global Reynolds number suggest laminar flow but particle Reynolds number suggests turbulence at the particle level? What effect does the Euler Granular turbulence (disperse) model have on the particles?

Turbulence in Euler_granular model

I am working with a solid-fluid fluidized bed which has a maximum Re of 1710 (ignoring the presence of particles), which is clearly in the laminar regime. But, the particle Re is >10 clearly qualifying for a not-laminar regime. In a system with disturbances such as the particles, we would expect the flow to be turbulent at least locally.
I have recently come to an understanding that these disturbances needn't be called ''turbulence'' unless it's dissipative. Now, I know I just opened up the platform for a great debate.
Nevertheless, in the practical sense the laminar regime worked well for my system and the model has been validated with agreement to the experimental results.
P.S: I know the reply is late, but somebody like me (before 6 months) will probably open up the post and find help :p
