hi
I want to plot velocity contour along an specific axis ,I mean I have two axis (X and Y) and Fluent gives me U (x velocity) and V (y velocity)contours but I want to plot velocity contour on a plane which has made 45 degree angel with x axis.
in other word ,on the axis which has 45 degree angel with X or Y axis.
Thanks alot

First make up your mind.

Do you want to plot the velocity on an axis, or on a plane? You keep switching between those two as if they are the same, but they are not. An axis is one-dimensional, a plane is two-dimensional. What do you want?

If you want the absolute velocity as a contour on a plane perpendicular to the [1, -1, 0] vector (i.e. directed 45 degrees from x away from y), you can create this surface in the Surface -> Planar Surface (if memory serves) and choose point and normal (or whatever way you want to specify it). Subsequently you can follow the normal procedure to create an iso-contour on this newly created surface.

However, if what you want is the velocity component along this plane, you need to create a new field variable where this is calculated from the three velocity components u, v, and w. Let me know if this is what you have in mind.

Good luck!

Hello and thanks for your answer.
In this photo 1,you can see what I am looking for
.As you see , I have different planes that I made them in this way :
surface--plane--select points
the problem is I want to plot velocity contour (axial velocity) in this planes. As you can see in photo 2 ,there is a F vector in each section (the normal of the plane)that coming out of plane and I want to plot velocity contour in F direction and it is called an axial velocity contours.
In photo 3 ,it is obvious that an axial velocity contours has negative and positive quantities so is there any idea how can I make it?
I am using Fluent 6.3.26 and I did not find this steps which Tarjeiba said.If you use another version of fluent which I have to use to plot this contours just let me know.
thanks alot

Isn't the third photo exactly what you want to have? Or do I understand it wrong?

I am confused, you already have what you want... If figure 3 is what you want, and you already have figure 3, you are done, aren't you?

Okay, that makes sense

I guess you can do this with the next three steps:

Step 1: Define a plane. (you already did this).
Step 2: In the cell zone conditions, define the rotation-axis direction as the normal to your plane. (for example [1, -1, 0])
Step 3: Plot the Axial velocity on the plane.

(This is from memory, so some things might have slightly different names.)

If you want to do this on five planes, you have to do this five times. There might be a smarter way, but this is the best I can come up with. Good luck!
