Dear all,
I am simulating hydrodynamic force on hydrofoil in ship. In this simulation, I would like to consider the vertical motion of ship. so I just use layering method in dynamic mesh. and I am planning to use not whole ship model but small local model due to the analysis time. The detail is prescribed in the below picture. The inlet velocity profile will be taken from whole ship result. I am not sure that to use local model is reasonable or not? Is this method is used commonly?? Could anyone give me comment? |

What do you mean by local model? Only part of geometry? If so then it won't give accurate results as the forces will change....but if you want to save time you can always scale the model using similarity principles....reduce dimensions...adjust bc's and surely you'll get accurate results with time savings

If I use whole geometry result as inlet BC, I think it can make similar result with the result from whole geometry model. Isn't it? In case of the hydrodynamic force,it is impossible to use scale method. because there is no similarity in the relation. so I consider this kind of analysis using local model to save time. |
