Hi everybody,
I was wondering if it's possible to obtain the dimensions of a geometry from a FLUENT case file. How could I do this?

Thank you,guys.

If you want to read where are limits of your domain (xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax, zmin and zmax) you can open general tab, then scale.

Nothing of more detailed is possible to get from FLUENT? Actually, I've to find out the dimenisions of the various parts of this geometry (in my case is a simple 2D axialsymmetric geometry).

No, it is not possible and I always have the same problem. Scale tab provides only the domain dimensions.

I've found an indirect way to do it for a 2d case: open the case and initialize it with whichever conditions. Then go to XY Plot and then you choose from Function->Mesh-> X-coordinate or Y-coordinate (it depends on the orientation of the face) selecting the part of your mesh you want to measure. You can plot it but more important you can write values in a file.

is it actual domain size or the meshing size of that domain like max mesh size and min mesh size

It is actual domain size, that tab has nothing to do with mesh size.

Hi, the best way I found so far is to display edges (to get a mesh), go to Create --> Line/Plane and select two mesh points with the mouse. You get the exact coordinates of the two points which allow you to calculate the Euclidean distance.

Hi,

What I do is go to create an iso-clip select Mesh and then whatever coordinate you need. Select the part you want and click on Compute. That will give you the limits.

Regards
