Hi.

When I read the mesh in Fluent this message appears:

general-checkWARNING: Mesh check failed. To get more detailed information about the mesh check failure
increase the mesh check verbosity via the TUI command
/mesh/check-verbosity.

What does it mean?I have done what it says me, but with no
success.

Thank you

Mesh checks generally don't fail unless your mesh has serious bugs in it. Recommend going back to your grid generation software to make sure you actually have a grid.

You need to use the TUI commands to increase the verbosity to high in order to get more detailed messages. Put into the TUI window,
/mesh/check-verbosity 2 (or 1, the default is 0 which is low verbosity).
Not sure how the verbosity is going to help unless you think your mesh is okay. I would skip trying to look at the verbose output and figuring out why your imported mesh is no good.

Thank you.

In my mesh there is a maximum aspect ratio of 36, too big, but I can't understand where these bad cells are!

There is a way to understand where the cells with this bad quality are localized? And how can I modify them locally?
If I reduce the mesh sizing of the whole domain which contains these cells, too many cells appear and the computational costs enhances (I am simulating the rotating domain of a waterwheel or turbine).

Thank you

Hi
after you imported mesh to fluent, set an initialize and go to contour tab and set:
mesh>orthogonal quality
it will show mesh quality in your domain

A value of 36 for the aspect ratio is not so dramatic in my opinion. Not enough to generate a check failure anyway.
I think you'll have to look for the problem somewhere else...

Ok. So can I perform my analysis even if the max aspect ratio is 36?
Only few cells have this value. I have 1100000 cells with aspect ratio 1.5, 60000 cells with aspect ratio 4 and someone with higher aspect ratio.

Thank you

Generally speaking yes, a max aspect ratio of 36 is absolutely fine (prism layers for near wall analysis can produce even higher aspect ratios and you would be fine anyway).

Consider also that in case of "high values" of aspect ratio (can't remember the threshold value) fluent gives you a specific warning just to let you know.

In your case though, you have a check fail which you really should sort out before proceeding further.
