Fluent crashes on Windows 8.1 64 bits
Hi there!
I am facing a problem with Fluent when running on Windows 8.1 64 bits. It does not matter the simulation I am running, Fluent might crash at any time. I can not predict either when it is going to happen: sometimes the simulation goes until the end, but in most cases it crashes before tcompleting the calculation. My laptop is new, I believe there aren't any problems regarding hardware. Besides, I am using 15.0 academic version and I have a legal license. Is anyone having a similar problem? I'd appreciate your help! Regards, Renato. |
That is Abnormal exit of the fluent. Even I faced this problem earlier. I think its related to ram, I changed Non ECC ram to ECC ram and its working well for me.

Hi During the fluent job, monitor the performance or process of system under task manager window to find out if there is a problem with memory, CPU or even hard disk. |
maybe there is something wrong with your hardware. my friend faced the same thing like you until he upgraded his computer RAM. pls show the print screen of your program when it crash.

Thank you for the answers!
I don't want to believe there is a problem with my RAM memory. There is no message on Windows when it crashes. It just...closes. I've seen a message once saying something like...this program stopped working. I'll monitor the variables of the system as you reccomended and get back to you! Thanks! |
Are you using any UDFs with User-Defined Memory (UDM) calls? I've experienced instant fatal crashes with Fluent when I haven't enabled UDM and it's called from a UDF. Try running a vanilla simulation.

Without using udf also fluent crashes. It gives error
"Error [node 999999]" Abnormal exit. |

Still facing the problem!
I have some more information for you now. Please find attached the files I have regarding this problem. Apart from the three pictures, I noticed that Fluent creates a *.log file in the working directory. I pasted it below: Error [cortex] [time 5/2/15 1:5:53] C:\PROGRA~1\ANSYSI~1\v150\fluent\fluent15.0.0\cort ex\win64\cx1500.exe received fatal signal (ACCESS_VIOLATION) 1. Note exact events leading to error. 2. Save case/data under new name. 3. Exit program and restart to continue. 4. Report error to your distributor. Error [cortex] [time 5/2/15 13:3:39] C:\PROGRA~1\ANSYSI~1\v150\fluent\fluent15.0.0\cort ex\win64\cx1500.exe received fatal signal (ACCESS_VIOLATION) 1. Note exact events leading to error. 2. Save case/data under new name. 3. Exit program and restart to continue. 4. Report error to your distributor. I monitored the system variables as you recommended, and I guess there is no problem at all. I am looking forward for your comments. Thanks! Renato. |
Failure
Can anyone give anwser to the post above mine. I have similar problem. Ansys Fluent is working for about an hour and then disappears. It is leaving behind error files equal to number of threads that he is working on, displayed in notepad files but only node 0 file has a message inside:
Error [node 0] [time 14.06.2017 12:37:21] Abnormal Exit! and an additional file with number 999999 with same text but coresponding number. |
