Particle trajectory in flow field

1 Attachment(s)
Dear all
I'm simulating a single particle in a flow field that runs for 2s and has an inlet velocity of 0.1 m/s. The particle has a density of 500kg/m^3, so it's raising during simulation time. Also, it should be transported forward with the inlet velocity I think. So it should be transported 0.2 m in the simulation time. My problem is now that this 0.2 m are not reached with a wide mesh. With a smaller mesh, the result is much more accurate. But as I understand the DPM solver, the result shouldn’t be dependant from the mesh size.

You can find the trajectories in the attachment. There are different tracks for different mesh sizes. It can be seen that the track gets the most accurate when the mesh size is close to the particle size. Does anybody have an explanation for that? Up to now, I always read that the only mesh size restriction for DPM is that it shouldn’t be smaller than the particle size.

Thank you in advance
