New user here, using Fluent both academically and professionally, looking for some advice. I'm working on a pretty standard tutorial type project, but am having some trouble, looking at a flow around an ellipsoid.

My mesh has ~1 million nodes, and is taking significant time to complete the desired number of time steps. My simulation requires ~10hrs to complete 400 time steps, so I want to know what I can do to decrease computation time for future simulation.

Other than decreasing the enclosure dimensions, or increase the element sizing, what can I do?

I worry that with 1 million nodes I am at the limit of what my computer can handle, and that my future simulations that may take much longer.

Additionally, is there any sense in me not using all the processors available to the computer, I assumed I should leave some inactive if I need to run other applications while the simulation continues.

Any advice would be appreciated.
