UTF Problem at Results Process

Hello, I have a problem with Ansys at “results” process. My hostname had special Turkish character, but I have changed it after installing Ansys. My project folder hasn’t any special character now. But after “solution” process, I click to “results” and

“The application has encountered an unexpected problem and will now terminate:
Aborting due to unexpected error:
unicode::conversion: cue::MakeWStringU - Malformed UTF8 string C:\Users\grkan

This message is shown. I have changed hostname and user name of my computer but Ansys use old folder address. Should I re-install the program or is there an easier solution?

Thanks for your interest,

Gurkan

I had this problem before and found out it was an OS issue in Windows. Even when the user name is "changed" windows actually doesn't change the user name directory or registry keys and everything still references the old directories. That is, windows displays the new user name, but the original files & folders are still present under the original user name. You can uninstall and re-install your programs but the user directory is still the original directory.

I never found a solution other than creating a new user account or re-installing Windows.

Thanks for your response. I have created a new user and problem was solved.

Hello,

I have the same problem but when I created a new user, ANSYS still uses the old user's directory. How did you solve the problem exactly?
