Hi everyone,

I am having two velocity inlets n the only thing I was tracking was Temperature profile and the HT. So I havn't defined outlet as "Pressure Outlet". I have steady state, incompressible case. But now I have to get results for mass flow rate also.

So do I need to change the BC from outlet to Pressure outlet ? or anyother parameter needs to be changed for getting results of Mass flow rate for the flow.

Thankyou

To obtain mass flow rate, you must define a plane perpendicular to the flow direction and then you can use the in-build function in CFD-Post to calculate mass flow rate.

What is in-build function? I have never seen this in CFD-Post. This Information is also valuable for me.

Thanks in advance

CFD-Post has something called 'function calculator'. You can see it in the tabs on the left pane. There you can calculate the mass flow rate at any place/face. You must first create the plane of course.

Thank you so much for your Support.

I was wondering about my specific case. I have a pipe with 39 orifices. I called These orifices as my "outlet" because the pipe is Closed in both sides. There is a way to calculate the flow rate in each orifice? Or should I create a 39 planes, and then use the function calculator 39 times?

thank you so much

There would be an option called 'outlet' which you can select in the function calculator.

Yes... there is.. but as all the orifices are called outlet... The function calculator just give me one value (I Thing it is the sum of all outlets). I would like to have the value for each orifice because Iīm studying a way to have an homogeneous flow rate in each orifice.

Do you know if itīs possible to have this values?

Also I could not create a plane for each orifice....

thank you so much for your attention

Sorry. Couldn't help you there. I can only think of creating planes for each orifice.
Why does that not work?

Please see the attachment. When I choose location and "plane" The software doesnīt allows me to input the coordinates of the holes. I donīt know how to inform the software the coordinates of each hole. Each hole (outlet) has the same diameter.
Do you know how to do that?

Thank you so much

Look at the 'method' drop down box.

Wow.. nice! It works

Just one more doubt, if possible. I should create the plane with a type "circular" as my outlet is cylindrical right? But how box should I select in plane type "slice" or "sample"? I donīt know the difference between them.

thank you so much

As far as I know, slice limits the plane to the boundaries of the model. Sample doesn't.
But it might be very much possible that there is another purpose for the existence of these options.
