Porous Media model and mesh size
Porous media model can be used in order to avoid to describe explicitly complex geometries (packing,..) which would require really cell consuming mesh discretization.
I get that pressure drop will be calculated from empirically formulation (Ergun) allowing to reproduce the flow resistance that the explicit geometry would provide. But I can't find any recommendation regarding the size of the mesh inside the porous zone. How coarser can it be ? Is it an important matter as blockage is not physically represented inside the porous zone and a superficial velocity is by default introduced.. What about turbulence phenomena ? Thanks to enlighten me on this topic |
Hi,
Is there any heat transfer/reaction modelling involve in porous zone while calculation ? If it is a simple case of flow problem with porous media, keep the uniform cell size as entrance/exit of porous zone. It will control the jump in momentm calculation and will be ease as we provide higher resistance to rest of the direction of flow. Regards |
