Hello everyone,

I am trying to model a moving train in a low pressure tunnel.
The train is moving at some finite speed and at inlet, I know total pressure of wind.
In order to simulate, the transnational relative motion between solid (train ) and fluid ( air ) zones, I tried using sliding mesh technique.
After creation of interfaces, I imposed a certain x velocity to the solid zone.

Since, I have total pressure at the inlet as a known quantity, I cannot simulate with imposing train velocity to air in opposite direction ( as would have been done in wind tunnel) as this will changed the total pressure.

I have used sliding mesh before for rotating case but this time when I tried with a very basic geometry ( a box immersed in fluid ), it didnt work.

So, does it mean that I need to use dynamic mesh and specify cg motion for solid zone to simulate this problem.

Attached is an image for mesh motion which is totally absurd.

Thanks

Have you solved your problem? I am also facing same issue. Does sliding mesh works for translational motion of solid in fluid ?
