hi i am doing the simulation for a axisymmetricjet impingement heat transfer on flat plate, different nozzele to plate and reynolds number testing but
how calculate the I (turbulent intensty %) for this case ( impinging jet) formule or correlation for calcul the I% please thanks . |

The ANSYS user manual has the equations listed for turbulence properties.
You can get the user manual by pressing F1 when Fluent is open, then just search 'turbulence intensity' The Theory manual gives a bit more in-depth description if you want it. |

Dear amine hero
The turbulence intensity can be roughly estimated by considering the flow situation as the following: 1. Grid turbulence - intensity = approximate 1% 2. Wall bound flow - intensity = approximate 10% 3. Free shear flow (jet, wake, and mixing layer) - intensity = >10% Good luck Eakarach B. |

I=0.16Re^(-1/8) is developed by considering the fully developed flow in pipe. However, that formula can also employ to estimate the turbulence intensity in many flow situations.
Good luck. |
