How to do Grid Independent Study
Hi all,
I was wondering how do I do a grid independent study. I have ploughed through the forum several times and I could not find the answer I need. I understand that grid independence can be achieved by refining the mesh progressively. But how do I do so? Take ANSYS FLUENT for example. There are so many parameters(eg. max face size, edge sizing, etc....)that can be used to refine the mesh. Which is the correct parameter that I should adjust? Thank you!!! |
In addition, do I do refinement at the workbench or Fluent?

I think you should fix the first wall cell first then change the core mesh density to get a variable which doesn't change when solution converged.
Hope that helps |

Thank you for your reply! May I ask how do I do so? Where do I adjust the wall cell and where do I change to core mesh density? P.S I forgot to mention that my domain is rectangular and 2D. |
Do it in pre-solver (Meshing tool) by loading the mesh file in the software.
Then change the spacing size of the cells either transverse or longitudinal. Thanks Hope it helps |
