What is the difference between pore diameter and particle diameter in porous media?
I am modelling metal foam in fluent (Porous model) and I need to know the difference between pore diameter and particle diameter in porous media? And the difference between porosity and particle per inch designation and how to find the other when I have only one?
Thanks in advance |
Fluent for Porous Media
Hi Emara
Sorry, I am like you new here and in Fluent. But, as you are working with CFD in porous media, I just thought maybe I can ask you a question: how and where did u put porosity in fluent? How about cylindrical flow direction (do you know how we can consider that)? Thanks. |
Hello Rayman,
Once you defined your porous zone in "Cell Zone Conditions", you can click "Edit" and then a window will appear, you shall check "Porous Zone" and under the "Porous Zone" tab you shall find "porosity" at the bottom of the window. |
fluent porous
Thanks Emara, yes I know but i think that is fluid porosity and should be 1 always. Am i wrong?
|
No, it shouldn't. That's the value of your region's porosity (epsilon in the averaged governing equations). The "1.0" value means all fluid and 0 means all solid.

Dear Emara! Thanks. Do u know how to make a profile? Maybe we can be connected for easier discussion on cfd by email if u dont mind: rahman.ashena.313@gmail.com. I really appreciate it.
