Unhappy modelling of open from top continuous sedimentation chamber

1. Is.VOF model required?
2. If not then if i gave top wall as symmetry is it true..?
3. at the inlet gate why the velocity is not uniform throughout the section even after giving velocity inlet condition.
Ps :At prsent using only single phase model for modelling of fluid,will model sediments after result match. now using K-E turbulence model....
Plz respond fast..
