Solution Initialization ANSYS Fluent

Hi,

can somebody explain the difference between to initialize the calculation withouth choosing the option "Compute from"? Currently, I´m working on a exercise of my university ("Flow over a flat plate") and the residuals are different if I just initialize without using the option "Compute from" or with the use of it.

Thank you

p.s. when I´m using the option the initial values are different of course but I don´t know in which cases I should use it or nothttp://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/[IM...om/2ly5pg1.jpg[/IMG]

Compute from uses the properties at the location you selected. i.e. you can select an inlet and compute from will estimate the velocity to be used as the initial guess. Selecting different boundaries with different boundary conditions can lead to different initial guesses, which affects your residuals.

Residuals will be different for different initializations because they depend on the current solution (and different initializations have different fields).
