Hi,

I am a degree student who currently doing a simulation of 2D fluidized bed combustor for my final year project. I understand that if I want to place a sand into the fluidized bed, I will need to patch a region above the distributor plate. (if i understand correctly). When I start to calculate where the air is flowing from inlet to the bed column, the particles (I used sand) seems to flow through the distributor and go to the inlet.

My question is, how is that possible if I had patch a region to be filled with sand? I thought the sand will only circulate at the region I mark?

Secondly, I assume the sand as one of the fluid phase. Am I correct?

Hoping my doubts can get attention here. Thanks in advance.

Hi ,
sorry i don't have reply for your question
i guess i have a problem more than you i'm in 2nd year master degree ,the first task that i should make in my final project is to realize a simulation of fluidised bed uses the pomace like particles.if you can give me ideas about the models that i should use in fluent (multiphase flow,viscous...) ,Note that this fluidization is without combustion or chemical reaction.i should determine by this simulation the air velocity and the particle velocity for achieving the best fluidization .

Hi Fen,
thank you for the response ,i was talking about all models that fluent uses not just multiphase (can you find it in this picture),because i m beginner in this simulation can you guide me please?.i realized the geometry and the meshing but i don't know what i do in the configuration.

Hi fen ,
ok i will try with tutorials even if i tried already,so about multiphase model i want to ask you if we tick the "Dense Discrete Phase Model" or not ,we let it by default ? as it appears in the picture.what is the difference between if we tick Dense Discrete Phase Model or not.please help me .sorry my english is so bad .
