Hi community,

i hope you can help me. I tried to solve my problem by reading the users guide and manipulating my mesh, but i was not able to solve it.

I have to solve a transient 2D problem with moving walls, so i need to divide my domain into 3 fluid zones. For connecting them i load the non-conformal mesh (prepared with icem) in Fluent and use the interface feature. But it still does not work correctly.

I made a steady simulation with the non-conformal mesh with the interfaces and one with a conformal mesh, but the mass-flow-rate at a significant point is different. When i looked at the results in cfd-post then i realized that maybe ansys assumes a bigger interface than the geometry is. In addition Fluent produces wall zones at the position of the interface, but i can recognize a fluid flow through it. In the users guide i read that fluent produces walls were is no contact between the two interfaces, but in my case the walls are over the hole area. So i change the boundary condition of the produced walls into mass-flow-inlet and set the mass-flow-rate to 0 (i know this is not correct but i want to see how it works).

Maybe anyone can explain me what happens at the interface and how i can solve my problem.

Thanks in advance.

Tobias
