modelling a packed bed in 2D

Hi... I am having trouble creating a packed bed in fluent. I am working on chemical reactions occurring in different reactor beds.

I created a rectangular geometry and assigned default cell zone condition as fluid. In fluent under cell zone conditions, i gave different values for viscous resistance and inertial resistance for different void fraction. However my result is not changing with change in these parameters. Why is it so???

Is it the right way to design packed/fixed bed???

How can we assign solid species properties to the packing material???

Hope someones listening to me:)

Hi Rajasekhar
I think you have adopt the "superficial velocity". you can try the "physical velocity"

thnak you for your reply

What about assigning a solid properties for my packed material???

What should i give as inputs in cell zone conditions for material name and solid material name????

changing default solid material from aluminum to user defined platinum has any effect on final species reaction composition???

Hi...

How do i assign solid properties which is platinum in my case in packed bed cell zone conditions.

solids materials name option at the end solves only for heat transfer problems whereas material name at the start is the fluid flowing through the medium.. correct me if i am wrong
