Interrupted Calculation

Hi all,

I have interrupted calculation in 400 (iterations) and tried to continue it (remaining 400 iterations after a while. But it took as if it started over from scratch. (totally it has been completed in 1200 iterations.)

Anyone who help me will be appreciated.

Hi,

Did you save the case and data file, prior to exiting? It is critical to not skip this step. If you are using fluent concurrently with ANSYS Workbench then in my experience I have seen it is necessary to save project in Workbench as well after saving the case and data file.

When continuing all you need to do is read your saved files.

I have saved .cas and data file yet. Then, after by''clicking' close, FLUENT has wrote SYS-1-0.0011 dat. and created regarding directory. So, what is that? why does it create it?

Hi,

I have not come across such a file being generated myself. Try this method:

1) Run till 400 iterations.
2) File - Write - Case & Data (specify your save folder).
3) Exit Fluent.
4) **If you have ANSYS Workbench open then, File - Save project. Exit Workbench.
5) Next time you open fluent, File - Read - Case & Data (choose your case file from your folder).

This works every time for me and has worked from ANSYS 14 to 17.

in between number 4-5 , what if I try to open ''solution'' (later setup) in workbench FLUENT ? if I do like you do, there will not be workbench ? is that good or not? I am confused.

That shouldn't be a problem. Give it a try.
