is there anybody who could help me to know what is DES method applications?
also for an airfoil with high angle and seperation could it be used?

DES is a cheaper way of doing LES. Rather, it is a technique that is tailored towards letting you run LES-like simulations in computationally less expensive way. I suggest learning what LES is, because the purpose of DES is to mimick LES.

Yes, it can be applied to airfoils at just about any angle of attack. In LES there is no explicit turbulence model, there is no model on the filtered variables and all that remains is a subgrid scale model on the unfiltered parts.

can i use DES for 2d problems ? or it is like LES just for 3d problems?
