Hi All,

I encountered a very weird problem when I am trying to read a case and data file.

It says:

Error: prf-set-var: invalid flonum
Error Object: nan

It is just a very simple steady case without UDF. I do not know what happens. Can anyone give some help?

Thanks a lot.
Best wishes,
Shengyi

Hi Shengyi,

I don't know what that error refers to, but maybe can help you narrow down the problem. Does the error occur when reading the case file or the data file?

If it's the case file, have you tried re-importing the mesh to Fluent to see if there's any issues or warnings then?

If it's the data file, was the data created using the same case file? Also, can you re-initialize data on the mesh without receiving the same error?

Cheers,
-sean

Hi Sean,

Thanks a lot for reply. The error happens when reading the case file.
The problem is that I employ periodic boundary conditons. So every time I re-importing the mesh, I need to modify the zones and create the periodic bc. Thus, the new case may not match the data file. So I cannot read the data file if I import the mesh.

Anyway, thanks a lot.

Good luck,
Shengyi

Hello sir,

I have one problem, kindly first go through it.
I have problem with with cell zone BC.

I just considered the cylinder and given inlet velocity at one side and outlet pressure at the other side.
1. defined the surfaces as the temperature body
2. inlet air velocity 8 m/s.
3. trying to find the cooling response of the system.

In cell zone BC
when I define cylinder as fluid then there was no error, but when I defined it as solid the error was showing as below

Error - %prf-set-var: invalid flonum
Error object - 1.£ inf

Kindly anyone suggest what is the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Remove all the boundary conditions, first keep all the surfaces as wall. then change from fluid to solid. As you have already defined the velocity inlet, which is not possible for solid cell zone. That is the possible cause.
