How to set unsteady turbulent inlet velocity using the result of another simulation?

Hey everyone,

I want to simulate a turbulent jet flow with different model in Fluent. And the simulation should have an unsteady turbulent inlet velocity profile at the source which I plan to achieve by performing a separate periodic pipe flow simulation. Specifically, the inflow at the jet source will be prescribed as an unsteady boundary condition derived from a separate simulation of turbulent pipe flow with the same Reynolds number. Then the velocity field will be recorded across a single cross-section of a periodic pipe flow simulation at each time step, after the simulation reached a statistically steady state. This recording will be then interpolated onto the boundary cell face at the fountain source in the fountain simulation at each time step. I am wondering if this can be achieved in Fluent and how?

Thank you so much.

Check out how to do a transient profile.

That is, write a "profile" from the source simulation and then read that profile into your turbulent jet simulation.

Thank you, Lucky.

I will check out how to do that. Could you please provide more detailed instruction?
