Hello team,
Problem statement: I have a hallow cylinder with which air is flowing inside the cylinder and given heat flux over the cylinder. Transient condition Pressure based. Hybrid initialization Run calculation- Time step size- 1 s, No. of time steps- 30 s, Max ite/time step-2 s. My question is, what ever the heat flux I defined, is it only for 1 s(one time) or full 30 s(full process). Your response is more value added. Thanks in advance sanjeevkumar |

The heat flux is in W/m^2, so there's a certain amount of energy (J) added per second (per m^2), for every second of your simulation. So if you have a heat flux of 10 W/m^2, and your simulation lasts 30s, a total of 300J is added per m^2.

thank you sir for your response.
is that 300J generated is added within one second or it will be added in step wise upto 30 sec. if I say a practical example of heat generated between two rubbing surface and then allow it to cool. so heat generated when there is contact say 2 sec, remaining time ( 28 sec) non contact. |

Stepwise, i.e., every second. Basically, if you have a heat flux of 10W/m^2, the amount of energy added in each timestep depends on the size of the time step. If your time step is 1s, then 10J is added (all per m^2). If your timestep is 0.1s, 1J is added. But it's a continuous process, so it keeps being added every second, for as long as the heat flux is active. So in your example, only contact for 2 seconds, then a total of 20J gets added.
