run time fluent?

Hi,

Is there any way that you can specify a execution time for the transient solution? (instead of number of time steps).
for example, instead of setting 10000 time steps of transient solution, I'd like to run a simulations for a certain cpu-time (say 10 hours).

This is a better job for your "job scheduler," which is exactly why all OS's have one.

I'm not sure you can do it in Fluent as an option but it is an extremely simple task to calculate the desired number of time-steps that would give a certain execution time. Fluent outputs an estimated time until the end of the time-step in the right most column. Or you can time it yourself. Then just do the arithmetic and run your case for enough time-steps. You obviously don't care how many time-steps have been completed and you already have saved the data you wanted so it shouldn't be a problem.
