Issue with radiation direction in fluent DO Model

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I am having a problem with the direction of incident radiation. I am applying a direct irradiation (heat flux) profile using UDF on the front circular face of cylindrical reactor as shown in attached figure. The direction of the direct irradiation is assigned parallel to the beam which is parallel to z-axis. But when I plot the contour of incident radiation (as shown in attached figure), the radiation is bending up at an angle. I did not have this issue before when I used similar settings. I am not being able to solve this problem. So, could you please suggest me what might be the reason behind this bending of radiation or how to figure out the reason behind this problem? I am using DO radiation model and the front face, where radiation is applied, is semi-transparent. Parallel processing in ANSYS Fluent is being used to run the simulation.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
SBhat

parallel radiation incident at the inlet

I doing a solar reactor modeling where i have to send radition at the inlet but it must enter normal at the inlet into the domein. i thibk you are doing the same thing can you please share you UDF and explain little hoy you define it.

it would help me a lot

thank you

Hi,

I am using UDF just for radiation profile. For the direction please look into the image that I have attached in my previous post. In the inlet Boundary condition (in my case it is wall), select Radiation and assign the direction under Beam Direction.

SBhat,

Did you resolve this, I have the same issue.
All materials have a refractive index of 1, and the beam doesn't align with the beam direction.

Thanks,

DO radiation model fluent - irradiated beam direction

Hi,
Did anyone solve this issue? I've been struggling with this issue for a long time! I am working on DO radiation model in fluent. I applied direct irradiation normal to the surface, but beam travels with some slight inclination/at an angle. Any information or leads on this is highly appreciated.
