Translational+rptational periodic flow
 

Hello CFD experts,

I want to model a flow with periodic boundaries. The flow is rotational as well as translational periodic in nature. (Please see attached figure). Therefore I have modelled a 3d helical periodic segment. In Fluent, under Periodic conditions, I gave MFR and Bulk temperature as 298.15. While the outer wall heat flux is 298.15 K. The contours formde for temperature are pretty strange. Since my geometric is helical, the translation is upto 1 pitch length (12.7 mm). Please help me, why the temperature is not resolving right. Will, the velocity inlet and pressure outlet (instead of translational periodic) help?
