Hi
Iam trying to simulate the heat transfer through porous medium.
Air enters and leaves the porous medium(porous medium-bottom wall is hot).

I have created the model in GAMBIT.I have taken a big domain, have split it in to 3 regions, named the middle region as porous , while left and right of porous are fluids.
If I specify the both the interfaces (left and right of porous medium)as wall in GAMBIT , 2 walls and corresponding wall shadows are formed in fluent. I have specified the fluid as air.Specified the porous medium parameters also. The case is not converging in FLUENT.

If I do not specify the interface in GAMBIT, the case converges.

Which method is correct?

So there is no air flow from from porous zone to fluid zone? Only heat?

Then you need define both the wall and the wall-shadow as coupled wall.

Thanks for the reply.
There is flow of air from fluid zone to porous zone.
If I take 2interfaces as interiors, with out heat transfer, there is flow through porous medium, and the case converges.

For heat transfer case, I need to make that 2 interfaces as 2walls and 2wall shadows. Then, if I run the case, the residuals are not converging.

Why u r making two interfaces as walls for the heat transfer case.

Else how will it calculate Heat transfer?

If there is a fluid on one side and solid on the other side, then a wall at the interface should be given coupled wall condition to balance the transfer at the surface.

If it is a wall, between two fluids, for the flow to happen, the interface should be 'interior'.
For heat transfer, what should be the condition at the interface?
