transient heat in jet impingement on a flat plate

can anyone help me in simulation of circular air jet impingement on a heated flat plate.

i want to find the influence of diameter of jet on heat removing form plate. or simply cooling of plate with different jet diameters.

i am using ANSYS fluent 16 and want to simulate this work.
thanks in advance.

hi,
can anybody reply . i need some help if some one did this type of work. urgent please

Flow impingement on a plate by different jets is a common research topic. If you're looking for help to set up a simulation, I recommend looking at the tutorials for fluent.

I am working on axisymmetric jet impingement on a flat plate and even I had the same doubt of how to set up the simulation in ansys fluent as I dont know which turbulent model to select, how to calculate appropriate turbulent characteristics and the meshing of control volume of the same. Help needed here.

Hi, what are you trying to do so far? What is your geometry set up? What boundary conditions have you tried?

Also, have you looked at the literature? Jet impingement is a very popular CFD case.

actually my objective is to find the cooling time of plat under different parameters like diameter of circular jet, velocity and spacing between jet and plate. most of the researchers have done the cases on heat transfer from plate in the form of nusstle number. but i put it simple to just find the cooling time. for that i set the boundary conditions as initial temperature of plate would be 100C and jet temperature will be 25C and simulate it with different diameters and velocities etc to find which case is optimum. can u please suggest me from where should i start. thanks

You can consider average Nusselt number value as an indication of heat transfer to compare between your cases of study.

Yes, you can use a similar geometry and mostly similar boundary and initial condition set up. Also, shrirang has a good point in that you can likely approximate the cooling time though the nusselt number.

Can anyone suggest how to select grid and hoe to validate my result for that

waqarha2003 February 1, 2018 13:50

dear can you kindly guide me how to calculate the Nusstle number at a stagnation point in transition case, i want to plot Nusstle number vs Re to validate my case with others
