Why does electrical current decrease so much in the PEMFC module?

I know a couple of people here have worked with simulating a PEMFC on ANSYS Fluent, so I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I can get a converged solution and everything looks okay, except that from and in the catalyst layers, the current density decreases by as many times as 100x. I tried increasing the electrical conductivity in the catalyst layers, but nothing changed in that regard.
Also, the interface between the gdl and flux channels is incapable of showing me the preffered motion of current. That interface shows me a mess of data that doesn't make sense when compared to simulations from previous works. Most studies I have found have used a very simplified, 2 channels fuel. I am simulating a real life fuel cell with 29 channels. Could it be this module was not properly made for more complex simulations? |
