HertsHeatTransfer is on a distinguished road
Hi all,
I am a novice to the world of CFD for the purposes of heat transfer and I've been given a few problems to look at. The simplest of these is the following setup:
  • An interior solid cylinder constantly emitting 400W
  • An annular section of air around that interior solid cylinder (initially at 35deg C)
  • A thin hull surrounded by seawater at a constant temperature - I can assume that the hull is at this seawater temperature(Initially at 35deg C).
I am assuming that all three modes of heat transfer will be considered.

I want to examine the temperature of the interior solid cylinder's surface both as a steady state problem and a transient problem over time, but I have no idea where to start! I don't really want to be told the exact solution since I learn best by doing, but if anyone can recommend any videos or tutorials for solving this problem it would be greatly appreciated. I have had quite a few attempts so far but I'm afraid to say I'm having no luck.

Hope you can help,

Cheers,
HHT
