STR transient simulation using MRF

In the simulating of stirred tanks, one can use the steady state MRF (multiple reference frame) technique or a transient SM(sliding mesh) technique. Simulations in literature for single phase adopt either. However, two phase (Gas-liquid) simulations solve the transient NS (Navier Stokes) using MRF. Is this conceptually correct, ie what is the source of transients? In addition, what is the criteria for selecting timestep size?

Hi, Have you got any experience on this to share? I am also thinking of using transient MRF for my case.
