ansys fluent overlapping contacts

Hi,
i'm making a CFD (Fluent simulation) of a battery with a lot of compontents. Around the battery there's an enclosure. This air enclousure is around but also inside the battery (air channels).
There are a lot of contacts beetween the components and after the meshing operations i have overlapping regions. How can i fix it?
I need automatic contact regions for save time because the geometry is complex.
Please help me!

Hello,

Have you generated the geometry using spaceclaim ? if so, you should put all the separate bodies in one body and enable shared topology. This way you won't have the overlapping contact regions problem. Let me know if you need more info

i thank you for the answer.
I made the assembly through spaceclaim.
If I set the shared topology in space claim i will be able to have an assembly in soluition interface?
I will be able to have different parts or a onlyu single body?
I will be able to assign different materials to different assebly sub parts?

Hello,
Yes you will definitely have your sub-bodies, they will not be merged. When you enable shared topology, the contact between your sub-bodies will be meshed in the same way on both sides of the contact, so there will be no overlapping contacts.
You will still be able to assign different materials to the different parts of your assembly. All you have to do is to put all your sub-bodies in one body, and then enable shared topology on that body.

The share topology will work also for fluent simulation?
if so how i will define the coupled comntacts?

Hello,
Normally it works with fluent simulations. I had a similar project that I made on Ansys workbench and solved with fluent, and it worked out for me. Once you defined the shared topology on spaceclaim, your mesh will change and you don't need to couple the overlapping contacts anymore.
(I'm not sure I understand what you mean by coupled contacts but hope I helped)

Dear Annan ,I thank you for the support. You really saved me!
I have a big multy parts assembly in Fluent. To allow the energy trasmission beetween different materials Fluent needs to couples the interfaces. It can be done through the automatic connections or through the named selections.Without the contacts (shared topology) can be really difficult in Fluent set the energy trasmission. I hope you could understand.
