Flow through pipe - porous media defining
Hello everyone,
I want to define porosity, i have pressure drop and flow rate. Can anyone help me how to define porous media in ansys fluent? Or how do i calculate parameters to define porosity? Thanks in advance. |
Simply, you need to define two zones in design modeler, then in fluent you can active the porous zone from the cell zone menu (which actually adds a sink term to the momentum equation ).

yes i have done that, but what should be my inputs to porous zone parameter. i mean i have pressure drop and flow data. How do i input that in porous zone?

Usually you need to know the viscous resistance coefficient (in terms of permeability), inertial resistance coefficents ( just if the velocity is high enough), and porosity. Also you have to enter the direction of each coefficient (if the medium is not isotropic). for more info read the following basic tutorial:
https://www.sharcnet.ca/Software/Flu...ug/node276.htm If you have pressure drop and velocity you can calculate the permeabilty from darcy or more comprehensive models (depending on your problem) |
