Hi,

I am trying to complete a DPM simulation on Fluent. I have been recently getting this error which closes fluent whilst in the middle of the simulation.
I have only noticed this error once the 'DEM collision' feature is used within the DPM model. It usually happens when the simulation reaches the 9th iteration.

Alternatively, I have also gotten "cx1820.exe has stopped working" under the same circumstances as named above. I have attached an image of the error.

Could this be a hardware problem, not enough computing power?
Or possibly a windows error, im running windows 10 at the moment.

Is there a way to fix this, as I currently cannot run DPM simulations with DEM collision enabled due to this error.

Thanks in advance.

These are pretty generic errors that don't really say much other than Fluent has crashed. cx is the cortex process. mpi is the parallel process. Neither of these are DPM specific. Try running in serial mode, it might help you debug what's wrong with your case.

Hi,

I am facing this issue also. Have you figured out what is wrong?
I am using Ansys 18.2 Fluent . I have a UDF to set the inlet boundary condition. When I use the UDF it interpret that and when I want to assign BC it shows the exact same error as you got.
I will get the error in both Serial and Parallel modes because my UDF is written in Parallel format and the code automatically changes the serial to parallel.

Any hint is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I fixed mu issue with this error. I was trying to interpret a UDF and it was interpreting without problem. But actually it had an error when it wanted to be executed. Also, When I opend the fluent from the Ansys, I couldn't run my UDF, Fluent had to be opened separately outside the ANSYS.
