CONTEXT:

I'm working on a simple CFD transient 2D turbine simulation. Inlet speed of ~10 m/s where the domain is of size 50 m. The intent is to animate the spin of the turbine. This would require User Defined Functions and dynamic meshing.

APPROACH:

I tried breaking up the fluid domain into two parts, one region near the turbine and the second being rest of the domain, so that i could enable dynamic meshing. The idea would be to have the turbine domain rotate as a rigid body while the other domain continuously deforms and remeshes. This would mean defining a contact region between the outer and turbine domains when meshing. (Something like what's being described in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th85IqhsjgQ).

PROBLEM:

I am not being able to make a proper mesh connection.

I'll elaborate what I did. I made the geometry on DesignModeler: I sketched the surrounding, then using 'create surface from sketch' concept, created the 2D surface. I then switched it from 'add material' to 'add frozen'. That finished my surrounding. Then I made a new plane (coplanar with the original plane) and sketched the turbine on this new plane, and repeated the whole process. In the end, I had two bodies and two parts (merging the two parts into one part isn't helping me). In meshing, I deleted all other automatically generated connections, and selected the edges. I realized something may not be right when the 'advanced' section didn't come up in "bonded" details. It said it made the connection, but the simulations never work because the inner mesh moves independent of the outer domain, suggesting the meshes may never have been connected. I think I've made a mistake in geometry design (either that or I'm not meshing correctly).

The complete file(.wbpj and other files) is here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...9P?usp=sharing

Kindly suggest solutions!
