Default Optimization: Boundary layer suction problem

Ubuntu is on a distinguished road
Hi everyone!

I was trying to simulate the boundary layer suction problem (on 2D airfoil) and I am getting good results. I modeled the suction boundary as pressure outflow (Figure attached) and was getting drag reduction with boundary layer suction.

Now I am trying to optimize the location and length of suction boundary to find minimum drag.
I thought of doing a Design of Experiment (DoE) analysis and plot the Response Surfaces. But, I have 4-5 independent variable (Re, AoA, location, length, suction pressure) which may lead to a lot of cases.

Can anybody tell me how to solve this optimization problem?
Can UDFs solve the problem?
Is it common to link Fluent with other optimization solvers?

Thanks in advance.

May be you can use Adjoint solver or Mesh Morpher Optimizer in Fluent
I don't think you can do optimization using UDFs.
Also I rarely see Fluent coupled with other optimization solvers. Its too tough job.
Hope this helps!
