Suggestions on ray tracing method for laser processing
Hi everybody, I am planing to simulate the laser welding process using ray tracing method. My aim is to see the laser ray reflect on the interface between air and liquid (vof), instead of using the volumetric heat source. Can anybody suggest the ray tracing method for laser processing in radiation model (DTRM, S2S, DO). Many thanks in advance.

Hi,Bro,Have you solved your problem yet?I have some same question about the ray tracing method.

Laser ray tracing
Hi,
We just released this code for anyone that finds this thread and is interested. Hopefully the preprint will be uploaded soon that describes the implementation. https://github.com/micmog/LaserbeamFoam |

Probably better off using FLOW-3D WELD for this (https://www.flow3d.com/products/flow3d-weld/)
|
Really?
I did not realise FLOW-3D was open-source, validated, and free.
What are the reasons you think a closed source, paid, black-box product is better than an open-source, heavily validated and free tool? It’s very insulting to post such comments when we’ve worked hard on this code and made it free and open-source for everyone. Besides, I would wager our ray tracing algorithm is better and faster. Has flow3d reproduced the Cunningham data? |

laserbeamFoam V2 - multi-component simulations

Hi,
we just released the multi-component version of laserbeamfoam - for simulating M-component substrates with Fiction diffusion. The new solver (multicomponentlaserbeamFoam) can be found in the laserbeamFoam repository: https://github.com/micmog/LaserbeamFoam |
