How to create a Chemkin Mechanism File

Hello. First of all, sorry for my bad english and sorry if my post is in the wrong section.

I have to simulate in fluent a pool fire where my fuel is C12H26 but there is no database for this fuel.

So my question is: How can I create a Chemkin Mechanism File? Is there a tutorial in the web? Or an example of a Chemkin Mechanism for another fuel?

Or maybe better, if you have a mechanism file for C12H26 can you attach it?

Thank you.

There's tons of chemkin files out there, it is a format that has been around for decades. If you absolutely must write your own, I recommend to look at a chemkin file to get familiar with it and then look at a style manual. Here's a link to the files for natural gas:

The hard part is finding the kinetic mechanism. Sorry, I'm not a kineticist and can't tell you what the combustion of C12H26 looks like. Btw, you forgot to mention what oxidizer you use. That's important cause the models can be very different for air vs oxygen, etc. If you run into the mechanism though, chances are the author has a chemkin file and you get get it from them.

Hi dear

I have the same issue. I want to simulate combustion of fuel C31H48 in fluent but don't know how to create its chemkin format file. did you find any relevant tutorial or source to create it?
