Calculation Stopping Halfway

Hi Everyone,

I am currently doing a simulation on fluent. I first set to 1000 iterations. However half way at about 180 - 225 iterations it will automatically stop and show error like "MPI Application rank 0 killed before MPI_Finalize() with signal 9 The fluent process could not be started." and also "Error at Node 0: floating point exception

Error at host: floating point exception

Error: floating point exception
Error Object: #f"

The convergence graph is looking pretty good however towards the 180 - 225 there is a sudden high spike and then the entire calculation just stops.

What could be happening?

Thanks guys!

Regards,
Legolas

The MPI error is quite generic and doesn't really mean anything except that it says Fluent crashed.

The floating point exception means your case diverged. Unlucky!

200 iterations is not very many. The fact that your case didn't diverge before 200 iterations doesn't mean that it was converging. Figure out why you case is diverging and make the needed adjustments.

Check boundary conditions. Check initial conditions. Check the mesh.
