calculation speed of fluent

hello all,

I have a question of computation speed with fluent. The specification of my desk top is AMD Ryzen 7 1700X eight core processor and 8 GB ram. When I calculate methane catalytic combustion with detail mechanism, the iteration is very slow.

however, the usage of CPU and RAM is not very high while computing. Can anybody give me some suggestion?

by the way, I am using series solver of fluent.

The serial solver uses only 1 process so your other 7 processors will be idle. Run parallel with 8. You only occupy as much RAM as your calculation needs. You can only check the usage of RAM capacity, not bandwidth so it's difficult to know if the RAM is being underutilized unless you run a really big problem.
