Hi there,
I have simulated a sphere in a volume of air (sea level, room temperature) , with a set 75m/s speed of flow from 1 direction. The sphere is 1 metre in diameter. after I have finished the calculation with fluent, what I think is the drag coefficient, is around 200. The bounding box of the simulating is a 7 x 7 x 7 metre area centered around the sphere. looking at contours, and vectors, of the result seem to be okay and expected. However, this nasa website, https://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/k-12/ai...ragsphere.html and many other graphs show otherwise. (should be under 1, at least). Am I doing anything wrong? or is my understanding of cd incorrect? thanks for the reply. |
