UDF: "unable to find rpvar" when closing FLUENT and opening it up again

Hello guys,

I have defined schemer variables by using rp-var-define in the TUI. I access these variables in my udf using RP_Get_... and everything works great. but as soon as I close fluent and open it up again through Workbench, the UDF returns "unable to find rpvar". Even though in the TUI when I use rpgetvar it returns the correct value.

Any thoughts??

Still no luck

Anyone have any ideas?

Parallel solving suspicion

I think the problem is due to the fact that I am solving in parallel and with the reboot of FLUENT the current rpvars are distributed to different nodes or something like that. I'm not very sure nor have much experience with this type of problem.

how do you save your case?
rpvars are stored on host in case of parallel computation

best regards

Hi AlexanderZ,

I save it by simply exiting Fluent to Workbench. Should I be saving it another way?

best regards,

try following:
define your rpvars
save case file
close/open
read case file

best regards

best regards,

but do you save the case when you exit Fluent? Sorry, gotta make sure.

either you are not saving the scheme variable (please make sure you're saving your cases when you exit) or the scheme variable is not being saved. If the latter, then you need to define it whenever you launch.

Were you able to get your solution ? Currently I am facing the same issue . Howwever in my case , I am running using multiple processors(Using 20 processors ) to run the simulation and also running multiple design points.
