Animated Solution Steady State Solution
Hi,
I would like to perform a simulation of a pump head using fluent. My aim is to be able to view an animation of the impeller and how turbulence and pressure changes as the impeller blades sweep past outlet. I've already done a steady state simulation, however I am not sure that the contours I see are an average of values during one full revolution of the impeller, or if the contours are for that specific position. Many Thanks. |
Depends on how you performed the simulation. Here is a nice summary of the different approaches for rotating parts: https://www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Best...stage_analysis

Thanks for the response.
I have 3 cell zones: inlet (stationary), volute (stationary) and impeller (undergoing rotational motion). I then have the boundary walls of the impeller rotating as well. I therefore think that, based on the link you'd kindly provided, this is a frozen rotor simulation. As the articles outlined, the results that I get are dependant on the rotor positions. I performed a single stage centrifugal scenario, however, I am looking to perform a simulation of multistage pumps. Would it still be a good idea to perform the simulation using fluent under steady state conditions or are there better alternatives out there that are better suited to calculating and presenting the solution. |
