Hello,
I’m minimizing the drag of a geometry using the adjoint method in fluent. The goal of my research is to delay the forming of a turbulent flow in the boundary layer. So, a multiphase flow is needed but in the user guide of fluent it is stated that for the adjoint solver: “The flow state is for a steady single-phase flow, or ideal gas, that is either laminar or turbulent”. At first, I thought that none of the multiphase flow models would work. I tried Transition SST and it did not work. But then I tried K-omega-SST intermittency transition model and it did work. I can’t find any explanation in the users guide or online why this model works, and the Transition SST model does not work. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated. |
