6DOF - imposing constraints and external forces

2D simulation, so technically 3DOF.

A rotor is suspended in the middle of a cylinder. I have resorted to the sliding mesh interface method. Doodle:

  • I would like for the rotor to be spun by a torque value.
  • The rotor must be free to translate along the X and Y axes.
  • The rotor must not be able to touch the wall. Translation must be constrained to prevent negative cell volume error.
  • The rotor is pushed towards the centre (0,0) at all times by a preprogrammed, offset-dependent force.

The objective is to study the influence of different rotor shapes on hydrodynamic forces. Hopefully - the hydrodynamic forces will have a stabilising effect, pushing the rotor away from the walls, and strengthening the insignificant centralising forces. Or perhaps the rotor will be sucked towards them w/ a destabilising effect. This is what I would like to find out.

How would I go about setting this up? I have never done 6DOF before, let alone custom equations and 6DOF UDFs. Thanks in advance.
