How to specify Latent Heat in Ansys fluent for material properties ?
 

Greetings,
I am trying to simulate solidification/melting model of PCM (Phase change materials) Whilst creating a new PCM material Fluent I can specify density, thermal conductivity,Specific heat as a piecewise-polynomial property. Now, along with that, I have Latent heat for the PCM during melting phase.
Is there any possible ways to specify Latent heat in terms of specific heat or how should I proceed. I have attached my PCM thermo physical properties below.Those values are in temperature range of piecewise-polynomial.

When solidification/melting model is enabled, Fluent automatically enables a solvent melting heat parameter in Material panel. That is where user needs to provide latent heat. Do note that there are no inbuilt options to provide it as function of some other variable, however, that can be done via a UDF.

have you considered use piecewise-linear on the properties?

Should you also consider it for the viscosity or the model automatically understands that the viscosity is only to consider on liquid phase?

Piecewise-linear or polynomial or other similar options are not available for Pure Solvent Melting Heat in Solidification & Melting model. Solidification & Melting model in Fluent is NOT based on viscosity, so, the viscosity is same for liquid and solid, however, solid does not flow, hence, viscosity has no effect.

Yes I understood thank you. But I was asking...for the thermal conductivity, cp and density can I use piecewise-linear? My idea is to use 4 points of temperature to have a constant value of a property on the solid phase, a constant value in the liquid phase and a fast transition between solidus and liquidus temp...

You sure can use piecewise linear for other properties.
