Hello there, I hope all of you are doing well. I am simulating hydrogen-enriched methane combustion and I am needed to obtain the temperature at every point (height) of my geometry but I have trouble to do so.

I have attached the picture whereby I need to know the temperature at particular height X. How do I get the datas of temperature vs height (mm)?

Thank you for your assistance.

Your query is little ambiguous. Do you want temperature at position marked X or temperature vs. height? Both are different. Temperature vs Height will be a graph and depends on whether you are using 2D planar, 2D, axisymmetric or 3D model. It also depends on whether you want spatial averaging in the other direction (other 2 directions if 3D) or not. For position marked X, it is just one value and you can create a point at X and fetch its value.

I see, thank you for your clarification. I am actually required to find the lift-off height of the flame and therefore needed the temperature at every height as a set of data so that I can estimate the lift-off height as well as to study the flame trend in numbers. I am using 2D planar model.

For example:
Height (mm) Temperature (K)
10 1000
15 1230
20 1368

and so on...

I apologize if my question is unclear. Thank you

There are two ways to extract such data, averaged along the transverse direction and non-averaged values. For flame lift-off, you need to extract non-averaged values. Create a line passing through the flame. This can be done using Surface > Iso-Surface > Mesh > and then select the coordinate that is transverse direction for your case, i.e., the one normal to the flame direction. Choose a value that is somewhere around the middle of the flame. Once iso-surface is created, go to Plots and plot Temperature vs. coordinate on this iso-surface. Within plot, you can choose to Write to File if you want to extract data.

Thank you very much for your help, I have managed to extract the data with your help. But can I know how am I able to find the intersections the x and y-coordinate from the plot?

I have figured out the ways to get the datas that I’ve wanted, thank you for your help. Is there any way that I can copy these surface settings to my other cases?

What do you mean by surface setting?

I have simulated other cases which has the same mesh as the one I've shown before and it would be time-consuming to create new isosurfaces for each one of them. Is it possible for me to duplicate the iso-surfaces that I have done in one case to other cases?

There are two ways - one is via bc file and other is via journal. Via bc file you don't copy just the surface but whole of the setup. So, if you don't want that then use journal. Journal is not copying from once case to another, rather setting up a journal to create surfaces and report data that you can use with all the cases. Journal commands are text user interface commands.
